D3 An Introduction (Coffee Book)

Genuinely excellent — I finished it in a week and immediately started again.

This is the third book I have read on microsoft programming this year, and it is comfortably the best of them. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.

Good value. Not perfect, but I would buy another book from this author.

I came to this book already familiar with the basics, and it still had plenty to offer. I particularly liked the way the author builds up from simple cases before introducing the harder material. It is denser than the page count suggests, and I found myself slowing down around the middle. Worth picking up if you already have the basics. Set realistic expectations and you will get a lot out of it.

I have been working with microsoft programming for a few years now and I still found plenty here that was new to me. The early chapters move quickly through material I already knew, but the later sections were genuinely new to me. Some of the diagrams are dense and I had to reread a few sections, though that may just be me. Four stars, and I suspect a second edition could easily push it to five.
